    This article discusses the use of network number 65535.

DISCUSSION

    The AppleTalk network number 65535 (all bits set to 1) is reserved for future use.

    Although this number is not currently being used, Apple recommends that you select another AppleTalk network number for reasons of future compatibility issues.
