I have a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) with OS 8.5.1 and a Multiple Scan 20" Display. The menus, icons and icon titles looks fine. All the text in applications looks fuzzy and distorted. I tried several other Power Macintosh G3's and all exhibit the same problem. I have font smoothing enabled in the Appearance control panel. How do I fix the problem?
DISCUSSION Try turning font smoothing off, or set it to a larger font size. Font smoothing really works best for fonts 18 point and larger. Testing has shown smaller fonts can look worse with font smoothing turned on. The font smoothing option is located in the Appearance control panel. Choose the Appearance control panel, click the Font tab, and the last selection is Smooth all fonts on screen. |
