PORTABLE STYLEWRITER
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Your Portable StyleWriter printer works with Macintosh computers with system software version 7.0 or later installed, and that have hard disk drives with sufficient available space (the Installer will check the space on your hard drive and tell you if you don't have enough).
MACINTOSH COMPUTERS WITH LOW MEMORY
In order to use the background printing feature of the Portable StyleWriter software, your computer should have at least 2 megabytes of RAM installed. If you do not have at least 2 megabytes of RAM installed in your computer, you should leave the "Background Printing" selection in the Chooser set to "off".
PRINTING TIPS
Follow these suggestions to get the best results with your Portable StyleWriter:
-
It is recommended that you select Print Quality as Faster in the Print Dialog box because it gives you the fastest printing and good print quality. For the best print quality but longer printing times, set this selection to Best.
-
If you have more that 2 megabytes of RAM in your computer, it's a good idea to use background printing. This allows you to continue working on your Macintosh while the Portable StyleWriter is printing. (To turn on Background Printing, choose the Chooser from the Apple menu. In the Chooser window, click the Portable StyleWriter icon, then click the On button next to Background Printing.)
-
If you use the Portable StyleWriter with a PowerBook 100, you must connect it to the Printer port; the Modem port is internal on the PowerBook 100. Be sure to select the Printer serial port in the Chooser after you install.
-
If you are using a PowerBook Duo computer which is NOT docked while printing to the Portable StyleWriter, the modem port must be selected and AppleTalk must be set to "inactive" in the Chooser. If you have an internal modem installed, you should also verify that the Portable Control Panel (accessible from the Apple menu) has the port set to "external"
-
Close the Chooser after making any printer set-up changes.
