The files included in this update provide improved 2D and 3D acceleration for the ATI RAGE 128 graphic accelerator card shipping in the new Power Macintosh G3.

Installation Requirements

To take advantage of these improvements, you will need the following:

Power Macintosh G3 computer with ATI RAGE 128 graphic accelerator

Software

Mac OS 8.5.1

Installing the Update

To install the ATI RAGE 128 Update, follow these steps.

1. Double-click the ATI RAGE 128 Update 1.0.smi file to open it. An ATI RAGE 128 Update 1.0 icon appears on the Desktop.

2. Double-click the ATI RAGE 128 Update icon to open the folder.

3. Open the Extensions folder inside your System folder and drag the following files to the trash:

• ATI Graphics Accelerator
• ATI Rage 128 3D Accelerator
• ATI Resource Manager

4. Close the Extensions folder and the System folder.

5. Drag the following files from the ATI RAGE 128 Update folder on top of your closed System Folder:

• ATI Graphics Accelerator
• ATI Rage 128 3D Accelerator
• ATI Resource Manager
• The system will tell you these items need to be stored in the Extensions folder. Click OK to have them moved.
• The system will then ask you if you'd like to replace older versions with the ones you're moving. Click OK to accept the newer versions.

6. Restart the computer.
