Mac OS 9.1: Computer Stops Responding After Accessing Extensions Manager at System Startup Time

Symptom

After using the space bar to access the Extensions Manager during system startup time, the computer may stop responding immediately after the Extensions Manager window is closed.


Solution

1. Turn on or restart the computer.
2. Press and hold the Shift key as the computer starts up to turn off all system extensions. You may release the key when you see the "Welcome to Mac OS" screen.
3. Open the Extensions Manager control panel and make any changes.
4. Restart the computer
