The optionally-installed Language Kits included with Mac OS 9.1 can be used with Classic applications just as in native Mac OS 9.1.
If you plan to use Language Kits in the Classic environment, be sure to install software updates specific to your language kit.
Important: The Language Kit software updates are not available at Apple Software Updates (
http://www.apple.com/swupdates/) or in the Knowledge Base (
http://kbase.info.apple.com/). They only appear in the Mac OS 9.1 Software Update control panel after a particular Language Kit is installed.
Follow these steps to download a Language Kit update:
1. If you have installed a Mac OS 9.1 Language Kit, restart your computer from Mac OS 9.1.
2. If your computer is started up from Mac OS X, choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu. Click the Startup Disk icon and then select the Mac OS 9.1 System Folder. Close the System Preferences window and choose Restart from the Apple menu. The computer will restart using Mac OS 9.1.
3. Connect to the Internet.
4. Choose Control Panels from the Apple Menu.
5. Open the Software Update control panel.
6. Click Update Now.
7. Install any Language Kit updates that appear. If you do not see any updates, the Language Kit you have installed does not require one.
8. Open the Startup Disk control panel and choose the Mac OS X System Folder to restart the computer using Mac OS X.
