Defining where your computer appears

In Mac OS 9.x and Mac OS X (client), a computer's services are registered by default in the Local Network neighborhood. You can see this in the Connect to Server window (Mac OS X) and Network Browser (Mac OS 9.x). A large network may be logically divided into smaller neighborhoods, which are also called "scopes." Examples of such division might include groupings by department or by floors of a building.

To change a Mac OS X computer's default neighborhood, follow these steps:

Your computer should now appear in the new neighborhood when viewed in the Connect to Server window or Network Browser.
