Mac OS X: 128-Bit 2D/3D Professional Graphics Card Causes Kernel Panic

Symptom

Either of these symptoms may occur:

• A kernel panic occurs during system startup time.
• A display connected to the 128-Bit 2D/3D Graphics Accelerator Card only works at a resolution of 640-by 480-pixels.

Any of the following computers when the build-to-order (BTO) 128-Bit 2D/3D Graphics Accelerator Card is installed:

• Power Macintosh G3 Mini Tower
• Power Macintosh G3 Desktop
• Power Macintosh G3 All-In-One
• Macintosh Server G3

Notes

1. This information does not apply to Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) computers.

Solution

You should not use the 128-Bit 2D/3D Professional Graphics Card in a computer with Mac OS X 10.0 to 10.2.8. The 128-Bit 2D/3D Professional Graphics Card does not meet the system requirements for Mac OS X versions 10.0 to 10.2.8.
