Mac OS X 10.1: Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS PhotoGrade Printer Feature Dimmed

The PhotoGrade feature of an Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS printer cannot be enabled. Start up from Mac OS 9.2.1 to print with PhotoGrade enabled.
Symptom

The PhotoGrade feature of an Apple LaserWriter 16/600 PS printer cannot be enabled. The "On" choice is dimmed in the Printer Features dialog window.


Solution

Update to Mac OS X 10.1.2 or later.
