Mac OS X 10.2 allows you to change the modem country setting via the System Preferences application. You may need to do this when traveling abroad.
Follow these steps:
1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2. Choose Date & Time from the View menu.
3. Click the Time Zone tab.
4. Click your part of the world, then choose a city near you from the "Closest City" pop-up menu.
5. Choose Network from the View menu.
6. Choose Internal Modem from the Show pop-up menu.
7. Click the Modem tab, and verify that the Country Setting is correct.
