iChat: "Disk in use" Alert After Sending a File, Difficulty Ejecting Disk

Symptom

When you try to eject a disk, an alert box with this message appears :

"The operation could not be completed because the disk (disk name) is in use."

After this occurs, you cannot eject the volume as you normally would.


Solution

This occurs after sending another iChat user a file stored on a volume other than the startup disk. To prevent the issue, copy the file to the Mac OS X startup disk before sending the file with iChat.
