Mac OS X Server 10.2: Server Monitor Indicates Journaled RAID Volume Is "Degraded"

Server Monitor may erroneously indicate that a RAID volume is "degraded" when the volume is being journaled.
Symptom

When checking drives in Server Monitor, a drive's status is reported as "degraded."

Solution

If you see the "degraded" status, you should use Disk Utility to verify whether the RAID has any actual issues. If Disk Utility reports that there are no issues, you may safely ignore the "degraded" status.
