Mac OS X Server 10.2: How to Authenticate Using an Administrator‘s Password

This document explains how to allow or disallow a normal user from authenticating with an administrator's password.
An option for Apple File Service (AFP) allows a normal user to authenticate using an administrator's password. This can be useful when troubleshooting user-specific issues, such as permissions.

This feature can only be configured manually, by editing the AFP server's local NetInfo database. Use the steps below to enable or disable this feature:
