Encoding video incompatibility with Power Mac G5 dual-processor

Symptom

• The progress indicator stops, and estimated time remaining begins to go up.
• Compressor unexpectedly quits.
• The computer stops responding ("freezes") and must be restarted.

Products affected

This only happens when using this combination of products:

• Power Mac G5 dual-processor system with Mac OS X 10.3.3 or earlier and one or more of the following:
  
  • Compressor 1.2
  • DVD Studio Pro 2.0.5
  • iDVD 4.0 to 4.0.1

Solution

Update to Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later.
