Mac OS X Server: NetInfo Hostname Requirements
This article give the requirements for Netinfo Hostname.
The host name of each computer must be unique. The host names must not contain spaces, and the characters must be alphanumeric. Special characters allowed are:
"." period
"_" underscore
"-" hyphen
