Macintosh: "Port in Use" Alert With Palm Computing Software

This document explains what you should do if you see an alert box with a message that says "HotSync can not be enabled because the port is in use by another application."
Symptom

When your computer starts up or when you try to enable HotSync settings, an alert box with this message appears:

If other software is open that is dedicated to using the serial port chosen in HotSync Manager, this alert can be expected to occur.
