Symptom
The computer may stop responding at system startup time if a USB device, like a floppy drive, is connected.

- iMac (Slot loading) with Mac OS 9.0.3
Solution
Install Mac OS 9 Update (9.0.4) using the Software Update control panel. You can also download it from Apple Software Updates at
http://www.apple.com/swupdates/ .
You can also work around this issue by waiting until the computer has started up before plugging in any USB devices. They should then work normally.
