AppleWorks 6.0.4: Dimmed Apple, File, Edit Menus Resolved With AppleWorks Update

Symptom

After opening AppleWorks 6.0.4, the Apple, File, and Edit menus are dimmed. You cannot quit by choosing Quit from the File menu, nor can you use the command-key equivalent (Command-Q).

Solution

1. Download and install AppleWorks 6.2 Updater or later.

2. Download and install CarbonLib 1.4 or later.

If the issue persists after installing the AppleWorks update, search your hard disk for duplicate copies of AppleWorks, and delete all but the copy that has been updated.
