Learn how to install script bundles, keyboard layouts, and sound files into the Classic System file in the Mac OS 9 System Folder.
In Mac OS 9, you install script bundles, keyboard layouts, and sound files by dragging them onto the System Folder. The operating system then puts them in the System file. In Mac OS X, you can add the same files to the System file by following these steps.
Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4 and later
- Open the System Folder that is used by Classic.
- Drag the script bundle, keyboard layout, or sound file into the Appearance folder in the Mac OS 9 System Folder.
- Use Classic preferences to restart Classic if it is running.
Mac OS X 10.2.8 or earlier
- Start your computer from Mac OS 9. If you don't know how, see technical document 106667, "How to Switch Between Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X".
- Drop the files on the System file icon in the Mac OS 9 System Folder.
