If iPod mini (Second Generation) has little or no charge left, the following may occur when you connect it to the computer via USB:
- A large battery icon appears on the display for several minutes (this icon does not animate).
- Takes longer to appear in iTunes or on the Mac desktop or Windows' My Computer.
- Takes longer to appear in the iPod Software Updater.
Note: This delay can last up to five minutes until it regains enough battery charge to resume normal behavior while charging.
When the large battery icon appears, it signifies that the iPod mini (Second Generation) does not have enough charge to do anything but charge (it won't go into disk mode, display menus, or display any screen animation).
This won't happen if you connect via FireWire or to an iPod USB Power Adapter.
