Shake 4 modifies the way the Rotoshape node works. As a result, rotoshapes created and rendered in Shake 3.5 could potentially yield slightly different results when rendered in Shake 4. This difference is more prominent in shapes with hard edges, though any potential difference is minimal (a 3-pixel shift along one edge, maybe) and should generally not be an issue.
To avoid potential issues, keep the following in mind:
- Never mix rotoshape-heavy rendered frames from Shake 4 and Shake 3.5 (for example, frame 1 was rendered in Shake 3.5, frame 2 was rendered in Shake 4, and so on).
- If you have a script with rotoshapes that were created in Shake 3.5, but are to be rendered (or further worked on) in Shake 4, double-check the accuracy of your shapes—particularly if those shapes have hard edges or are very tightly fitted to the rotoshaped image.
