Mac OS X Server 10.4 or later: Windows clients have problems acquiring a DHCP lease

Windows clients may not be able to get a DHCP lease from a Mac OS X Server, even though clients using other operating systems can.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Open Server Admin.
  2. Select DHCP.
  3. Click the Settings tab at the bottom right-hand side of the window.
  4. Click the Subnets tab.
  5. Select the affected subnet.
  6. Click the Edit button.
  7. Click the DNS tab.
  8. Enter your base domain in the Default Domain field.
