When you send a large image from Aperture to an external editor, the computer may become unresponsive when the external editor starts to load.
This situation can occur when there is too little space available on the boot drive or partition. The reason this may happen is that some external editors copy the image to a temp directory on the boot drive/partition. The best way to avoid this issue is to maintain a healthy amount of free space on your boot volume.
