In iMovie ’08, you may find that you cannot drag movie files from the Media Browser's audio pane (as pictured below) into your iMovie Project or Event areas.
If this happens, choose File > Import Movies. Then navigate to your movie to select it and other import options. You can also drag a movie from the Finder to an Event in the Event Library.
