To ensure extended attributes are copied in Xsan 1.4.2 and earlier, copy files using one of these ways:
- Use the Finder (drag and drop).
- With Mac OS X v10.4 and later, use the command line utility cp . Run man cp to learn more.
- If using cvcp, copy the directory containing the files you would like to copy instead of copying files individually.
Xsan 2.1.1 and earlier versions store extended attributes in AppleDouble files, which are not visible in the Finder. In Xsan 1.4.2 and earlier versions, these AppleDouble files are not copied when copying files individually using cvcp. However, when copying a directory, all files within the directory are copied--including any AppleDouble files in the directory.
To learn more about the cvcp utility, type man cvcp in Terminal on a Mac that has Xsan installed.
