Mac OS X Server version 10.5: Clients aren‘t auto-configured if user or server Name includes 2-byte or high-ASCII characters

Issue or symptom

If a user's account name, or the server's computer name, contains a 2-byte or high-ASCII character, that user's applications (such as Mail or iChat) will not be automatically configured when they bind to a Mac OS X Server version 10.5 Leopard standard configuration.

Note: 2-byte characters are used to represent Japanese, Chinese, and Korean characters. High-ASCII characters are "extended ASCII" characters such as ü or é. They are listed in table II of this webpage: (http://www.cdrummond.qc.ca/cegep/informat/Professeurs/Alain/files/ascii.htm).

Solution

Download and install Mac OS X Server version 10.5.1 or later.
