Before installing software on an AppleShare IP server, you need to quit all applications, turn off virtual memory, and turn off all extensions.
- Virtual memory can be turned off using the Memory control panel
- Extensions can be turned off using the Extensions control panel or by holding down the shift key while starting up the computer.
If your software installer does not automatically restart the computer at its completion, you will need to manually restart the server in order to turn all extensions back on. After restart, turn virtual memory on using the Memory control panel.
