Naming files and folders on your iDisk

You can usually name files on your iDisk whatever you want, but there are a few exceptions.

.Mac explains how to name files you share on file sharing webpages you make with HomePage. The same rules apply to files you save on your iDisk.

One very important tip you shouldn't overlook is to only use a period (.) to separate a filename extension from the rest of the name. Don't begin a filename with a period. In many UNIX-style operating systems, a file whose name begins with a period is "hidden". Although the file may be visible on your desktop in Mac OS 9, it will become invisible or hidden once you copy it to your iDisk. Since the file is actually on the disk, it will take up a portion of your allotted space.
