AppleWorks: "Default location required for this install could not be found" Alert

The AppleWorks updater software halts, and an alert box appears with this message:

"The default location required for this install could not be found. The install will be canceled."

Products affected

• ClarisWorks 5
• AppleWorks 5
• AppleWorks 6

Solution

Reinstall the software from the original disk(s) and then perform the update.

The symptom described above can also occur for the following reasons:

• If an AppleWorks component has been moved from its default location.
  
• If you are attempting to update to AppleWorks 5.0.3 and the update has already been performed.
  
• If you are attempting to update AppleWorks using an updater in a language that does not match the installed version of AppleWorks.
