Final Cut Pro 3: Voice Over Tool Reports No Available Sound Input Devices

Symptom

When you choose Tools > Voice Over, an alert with this message appears :

"No sound recording devices are available. They may be in use by another application, incorrectly connected or may be conflicting with a video output device."

Solution

1. Download and install Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later, which is available from the Software Update pane of System Preferences, or from Apple Software Downloads (http://www.apple.com/swupdates/).

2. Ensure you are using QuickTime 6.1 or later.
