.Mac Backup: CD/DVD Disc Spanning Restore Fails When Named in Japanese

Symptom

Backup fails to restore from a CD/DVD spanned backup if the backup was named in Japanese. An alert with this message appears:

"Error copying the file 'File Name.'"

Solution

• Upgrade to Mac OS X 10.2.3.
  Upgrading resolves this issue.

Until you upgrade, if this issues occurs if you open Backup before inserting the master disc. Follow these steps:

1. Insert the master (last) disc in the CD/DVD drive. The disc appears on the desktop, or in the Finder window.
2. Open Backup.
3. Choose "Restore from CD/DVD" from the View menu.
4. Select the items you want to restore.
5. Click Restore Now.
