DVD Player: "DVD Player encountered a serious error" Alert

If an earlier version of Developer Tools is installed in Mac OS X, an alert with error 1634955892 may appear when you open DVD Player.
Symptom

When you open DVD player an alert appears with this message:


Solution

Rename or remove the earlier HIServices framework installed by the Developer Tools package. To rename the framework, enter the following commands into the Terminal:

cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/
sudo mv HIServices.framework HIServices-old.framework
