In most cases, you should not delete, edit, or move the folders and files inside /Library/Application Support/GarageBand. Doing so can result in the application not indexing or finding loops until it is reinstalled.

  • If the "Apple Loops" or "Instrument Library" folders (or the content inside) have been removed, the software must be reinstalled.

  • If the "Apple Loops Index" folder has been removed, you can create a new folder with the same name in the same location, and then reindex your loops by dragging them into GarageBand's Loop Browser.

  • If only the content of the "Apple Loops Index" folder has been removed, you will need to reindex your loops by dragging them into GarageBand's Loop Browser.
