Previous LaserWriter printers have had plenty of EEROM space to store printer names. The LaserWriter Pro 810 supports up to 64 'virtual' printers with their own name and configuration variables that must be stored in non-volatile memory. In order to provide sufficient EEROM space, the LaserWriter Pro 810's non-LocalTalk printer names were truncated to 16 characters.
