In the System Folder there is a folder called 'Launcher Items', and within that folder there are up to 8 folders with bullets in the name. The folders with bullets represent a button on the Launcher. You can have up to 30 items (aliases to folders, files or applications) within each.
Therefore the Launcher can handle up to 240 items distributed throughout 8 buttons.
