The LED on the front of the monitor turns amber instead of green if the signal cable (video cable) is not connected to the CPU or if the monitor is not detecting a video signal from the cpu. The LED in normal operation is green when the monitor is turned on. However, the monitor LED does change briefly during a normal startup.
