ProDOS: Limited to 32 megabyte access on HD40SC and HD80SC

Is there a way to address more than 32 megabytes of storage space on a hard drive?
A limitation of ProDOS prevents the Apple II from accessing more than 32 megabytes of storage space on an Apple Hard Disk 40SC or Apple Hard Disk 80SC.

Those drives can be connected to an Apple II with an Apple II SCSI card.
