AppleScript 1.1: Error With More Than 512MB RAM

When I try to compile my AppleScript in Script Editor, I get an error message stating "result of the numeric operation was too large". This happens under System 7.5.5, Mac OS 7.6 or 7.6.1. I have more than 512 MB of RAM (physical memory and virtual memory combined). Can you help?
