Mac OS 8.6: Computer Stops Responding After Printing to an LPR Printer

After trying to print to an LPR printer my computer stopped responding. Now, it stops respsonding every time it starts up.

This will happen on a Macintosh computer with Mac OS 8.6 and LaserWriter 8, version 8.6.5 when either of these conditions exist:

Your computer is not responding because each time it restarts all queued print jobs are sent to the printer, but they cannot be printed because the TCP/IP control panel is not configured, or TCP/IP is inactive. Follow these steps to configure your TCP/IP control panel:

Delete the print jobs

Configure your TCP/IP control panel settings

Activate the TCP/IP protocol

Now that the TCP/IP control panel is configured, or activated, your computer will print to the LPR printer.
