The most likely cause is that the AppleWorks application has been moved out of the "AppleWorks 5" folder. For the assistants and stationery to be available in AppleWorks, the application "AppleWorks" must remain inside the "AppleWorks 5" folder with the "AppleWorks Assistants" folder and the "AppleWorks Stationery Folder". See Figure 1.

If you want to have a way to access the AppleWorks application more easily, you can create an alias of the AppleWorks application and move the alias to your desktop.
