iTunes 1.0.x: Will Not Open When Speakable Items Is On

Symptom

iTunes 1.0 will not open if Speakable Items is turned on.

Solution

Download and install iTunes 1.1. For more information about iTunes 1.1 and a link to the software, see article 60807 "About iTunes 1.1 Document and Software."

You could also turn off Speakable Items before using iTunes 1.0.x by following these steps:

1. Open the Speech control panel.
2. Disable Speakable Items.
3. Open iTunes.

Note: If Speakable Items is turned on when you open iTunes, you should be able to recover by force quitting iTunes, closing any open applications and restarting the computer. To force quit an application, press and hold the Command-Option-Esc keys simultaneously.
