The imaging architecture of the Newton is not
WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). There are some printing modes that are closer to the electronic document than others, but there is no guarantee of any fonts or layout. The font substitution map is not always what you expect or want, especially when you are talking about the "look" that certain fonts give to blocks of text. The words in a line are generally the same, but the spacing to the margin are always different from the print preview. This also affects IrDA and serial based printing, but in different ways.
For example, you will find that printing a checklist from IrDA to an Hewlett-Packard HP5mp is different than printing using the same printer through LocalTalk.
Regardless of the printer being used, do not count on the formatting of your Newton document to be the same as what you see on the Newton device's screen.
Note: When printing to Apple LaserWriter printers, the following substitutions are made:
Casual -> Times Roman
Century Schoolbook -> New Century Schoolbook
Courier -> Courier
Geneva -> Helvetica
New York -> Times Roman
