On both the Power Macintosh 9600 and Power Macintosh 8600, you need to use Mac OS 7.6.1 or greater to use the telephony applications. There was a problem with the Mac OS shipped on two models that didn't appear until you used the Apple Telecom software. Although it may seem to be related to the Apple Telecom software, it is not. Upgrading to a newer version of Mac OS (7.6.1 or greater) corrects the problems.
