MessagePad 2x00: How to Configure the Button Bar

I am trying to customize the button bar on my Newton MessagePad 2x00. When I add buttons to the bar, I get the message: "Button Bar: The button bar couldn't hold all the icons. The overflow will show in 'Unfiled Icons'."
The button bar can only hold seven icons. If you would like to add an icon to the button bar, first remove an icon that you do not wish to appear there. To do this, open your Extras drawer and drag the button icon into the open drawer. The button will then move from the button bar area, making room for the desired button icon.
