You can to connect Macintosh computers into the IBM AS/400 with both Apple and third-party products. You may use either Apple's SNA*ps 5250 stand alone product, or SNA*ps 5250 GC with one of the SNA*ps Gateway products. Two third-party companies, IDEAssociates and Andrew Corporation, provide terminal emulators for connecting a Macintosh computer to an IBM AS/400.

The IBM AS/400 uses System 3x architecture. The recommended connection is the 5250 family of devices.

The AS/400 will also support 3270 devices in pass-thru mode to locate mainframes using LU 6.2. This support is for IBM's SAA.
