Claris CAD: 3 D or 2.5 D

2.5D is a two dimensional profile with depth. 3D or three dimensional drawings show objects in a three space (x,y,z) coordinate system. Usually has automatic hidden line removal. Often objects may be rotated on screen to provide various views of the object. This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Claris CAD is strictly a 2-D package. Claris CAD can be used for the preliminary work for a file that eventually will be drawn in three dimensions. For example, the basic floor plan of a building can be completed in Claris CAD, because of the easy and fast drawing tools, then import the drawing into a program that will create a 3-D drawing.

For some programs, the Claris CAD file will need to be translated into another format. Among these programs are Auto¥Cad, VersaCad and Architrion. These are high-end 3-D cad programs.

Some programs will read the ClarisÊCAD file directly. These programs include ModelShop (MacroMedia / Paracomp) and Virtus.
