Claris CAD: Mass Properties

What are mass properties and does Claris CAD compute them?

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Mass properties are physical attributes of objects such as area, center of gravity and moment of inertia. Claris CAD does compute areas and perimeters of the basic drawing objects: circles, squares, ovals, rectangles and polygons. These computations are displayed in the Show Info window whenever an object is selected.

Does Claris CAD calculate the area of an object? If so, what kinds of objects?

Yes, by selecting the object and selecting Show Info from the Layout menu. It will display the area of all objects except lines, smoothed polygons, freehand objects and splines. To modify the area the user must modify the dimensions affecting the area. The area cannot be modified directly.

This information can be exported as object data in Claris CAD 2.0 or later.
