Claris CAD: Witness Line

What is a witness line?

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
A witness line is part of a dimension. It's the line that extends from the outside edges of the object being dimensioned, to where the dimension text is printed. It helps to point out what points on the object the dimension is measured from.

Note: MacDraw (any version) will not create dimensions, only auto-size lines. Auto-size lines do not have witness lines.
