MacDraw II: How to Determine Color(s) In Palette

Color patterns created with a black & white monitor will display on screen as the original black & white pattern it was created with. For a more effective pattern guide, use the white pattern as original and design the first letter of the color about to be created so that the color pattern is distinguishable on the pattern palette.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Follow these Step-by-step instructions:

1)Once within a MacDraw II document, double-click on the white pattern on the palette to bring up the Patterns window.
2)Click on the New button.
3)Draw bit by bit on the left square the first letter of the color you desire to create. You will see how it will be displayed on the right square. For example, draw "R" for red.
4)Click on the Color button and on the color you desire. Then press the Fill button.
5)Follow steps 2 through 4 to create more color patterns, then press the OK button. The color patterns will display in black & white with a letter describing the color.

Note: Technical Solutions for May 1989 (pages 11 &12), includes step-by-step screen shots on how to use color on an SE or Plus.

MacDraw II 1.1 ships with a file named "SE/Plus Color Stationery" already setup with a color pattern palette for SE's and Plus'.
