Claris CAD: Dimensioning With Radius Hardware

The Radius Accelerator uses a SANE (also called Radius Math) file that processes the math very quickly with both the 16 MHz and 25 MHz accelerators. However this speed reduces the accuracy of the calculations.

The result in Claris CAD is that dimensions, dimensions typed into the show info window and show location bar will not be precise. For example, instead of getting 1.00 inches as a measurement, a user might get 0.99 inches.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.
Workaround:
They can remove the Sane/Radius Math file from their system folder and reboot. This forces the Radius Accelerator to use the sane equivalent built into the Macintosh ROM's that is slower but more accurate.

Also, there are new versions of Radius' files. Some were created in February of '89 and should have a version number of 1.2. These are more accurate, but still not as accurate as the built in "Sane", so please encourage your customers to update themselves to these versions.

There is another accuracy issue involving the Info window that was fixed in 2.0v3. If the user enteres 1.0 and always gets .99 then the problem is probably the SANE init mentioned above. If the user get different numbers, such as .99 the first time, then 1.02 the next, see the record entitled 'Incorrect Numbers in Show Info Window'.
